Just up the dale from Barnard Castle

I was born and raised in Middleton-in-Teesdale and went to secondary school in Barnard Castle, so I’ve spent a big part of my life in the town. My finest moment there came early: Barnard Castle FC’s under-15s player of the season. Sadly the trophy has gone missing over the years, so you’ll have to take my word for it. If it turns up on a mantelpiece in town, I’d like it back.

These days I work from Middleton, about eight miles up the road, and Barnard Castle is where a lot of my clients are. Seven businesses in town and eighteen more across Teesdale, from Winston up to Middleton, have me hosting and looking after their websites.

They’re a proper mix: joiners, glaziers and groundworkers, two haulage firms, holiday cottages, a café, a parish council, a gun club and a village sports club. What they have in common is that none of them wants to chase a support ticket when something goes wrong. They email me, and I sort it.

Built from what you say, then looked after

Most of my Teesdale projects start with a conversation, often face to face in Barnard Castle. I ask the questions your customers ask, and the site gets built around the answers. For Homecharge, an EV charger installer, that turned into a 13-question instant quote tool that gives visitors a price in under two minutes. For Bowfield Farm, it was a simple availability form that ended the phone tag over dates. And for a Teesdale hospitality business that could only take money over the counter, online gift vouchers have brought in over £5,000 of extra income in about 18 months.

Once it’s live, I don’t disappear. Every one of my Teesdale clients is on my hosting, at £33 a month or £360 a year. It’s UK-based WordPress hosting that I manage myself, with no reseller in the middle and no ticket queue. If something breaks on a Tuesday, you email me, and I’m eight miles away rather than in another time zone.

What Teesdale clients say

Real reviews from businesses up and down the dale, word for word.

5 star review from Ali Collinson

Kane has been brilliant with the set up for our website. He has thought of every detail and has always given us great feedback and guidance. Since the launch of our website we have seen increased membership as customers can now pay via the website, as well as the ticket sales which have doubled also. We’ve also found that being searchable we’ve welcomed a lot more visitors into the bar which is absolutely brilliant. Kane is fantastic at his job and has a good idea for what businesses need from a website to suit their needs. Thanks Kane.

5 star review from Carole Naseby

Mitchell Digital has helped me greatly with the web design for my Bed and Breakfast business. I knew what I wanted but not how to achieve it and Kane got me to think about web design as a tool and as a result my Bed and Breakfast is reaping the benefits. Anyone wanting help to promote a holiday cottage, bed and breakfast or holiday home should get in touch, he’s really helped me.

5 star review from Grace Crawford

We had a great experience working together with Mitchell Digital as we developed a new website for UTASS. Due to Kane’s experience and knowledge, he was able to suggest the best approach for the web design and functionality to ensure that we got the most out of the site for our organisation and for our community. Our queries were dealt with quickly and efficiently and we felt in safe hands as we worked through the various steps to bring the new site to fruition. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mitchell Digital to others. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you actually based in Barnard Castle?

Nearly. I was born and raised in Middleton-in-Teesdale, about eight miles up the dale, went to secondary school in Barnard Castle, and still work from Middleton. My postal address is Barnard Castle. If it helps to meet, we can do it in town.

  • Do you only work with Teesdale businesses?

No, I work with businesses all over the UK. But 25 of my clients are here in Teesdale, 7 of them in Barnard Castle, so I know the area and how people search when they want a local business.

  • How much does it cost?

Builds start from £2,500, and hosting is £33 a month or £360 a year. There’s no page-count package, because the number of pages you need depends on what you offer.

  • Do you work with holiday cottages and B&Bs?

Yes, quite a few of my Teesdale clients are in hospitality. Newgate House, a B&B in Barnard Castle, moved from page two to page one for “B&B Barnard Castle” after a rebuild with professional photography and local SEO. There’s more on my holiday cottage web design page.

  • Can you take over a website someone else built?

Yes. Tell me where it’s hosted now and I’ll reply within a day with what the move involves.

  • Can you help me show up in Google Maps for Barnard Castle searches?

Yes. Local SEO and a properly set up Google Business Profile are part of the build, not an add-on. It’s the same work I do on my own profile, which sits at 5.0 from 45 Google reviews.
